Sound the alarms people! Microsoft fucked up on the distribution one small program that nobody uses! Surely everyone is going to switch to Linux now! Hurray!
First of all, anyone who has worked at a large software company knows that shit like this happens all the time. Sometimes shit gets really bad and people at the top notice. In this case Bill noticed because he cares, and he did something about it. But you know what? I'm sure there are at least 20 Microsoft engineers who knew how bad things were and either didn't have the motivation or the clout to get things fixed. Just because one of these emails got out, don't fucking act like the company is about to implode. You think MS can't keep it together? I'd like to see N OSS hackers try to work together on something without producing N-1 forks.
But more importantly, you lusers are totally lame because you're gonna use this as yet another shitty argument as to why Windows sucks. Cuz surely, Linux doesn't have any usability problems. We all know it's fucking perfect. Lets totally ignore the fact that I can't easily download a fucking program from anyone's website, let alone Microsoft's. Or how I can't close the fucking lid on my laptop unless I want our freedom hackers to free me of my unsaved data. Or all the other shit I've written about.
Windows has its faults, but Linux has a fuck-ton more. Get a fucking clue, lusers.

Yeah, yeah, we know you spend way too much time on Digg. But can you please list the blogs that apparently are raving about how Windows must suck and Linux is obviously the solution? Neither the e-mail nor the article mentioned anything about Linux, and I haven't come across any blogs using this to push Linux as a much superior OS.
Of course, if you haven't had any real content for a while now, so you're stuck making up imaginary enemies for you to rant at. Who are the lusers you addressed in this post?

I don't see anything wronge with linux, do you mind providing facts? (that means references should be included) here is a simple windows problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926185 (oh it has a workaround don't I just love workarounds) If you'd be so nice to give me a bug from the linux 2.4 kernel could you? (took me about 0.1 of a second to find that problem, just randomly searched "dual-boot configuration windows")
Anyhow, Windows' registry alone has more flaws than any other OS I've ever read about... I could not create so many problems even if I tried.
Further more, all of the posts I've read is about GNU\FSF not linux. You also need to research your topic a little bit more. The "0.99 bottles of wine on the wall"'s coments really cracked me up. I will continue to read this blog, because its so jubilant.

Here's one I just ran into now. I recall Linux users mocking how Windows usually needs to reboot to install updates. Poor OS design! You won't have that problem with Linux! Well, I'm playing with kubuntu in a VM because I need it for testing, and I go to change the mouse settings because the single click launch thing has been getting on my nerves. (Oh, and the System Settings window totally ignores that setting. Thanks.) While I'm there I poke around and decide to change the cursor theme to whiteglass just to see it. Translucent cursors could be cool, right? "You have to restart KDE for these changes to take effect." What the fuck? For cursors?

In an unprecedented move, Microsoft has committed to providing support services for its soon to be retired Windows XP through 2014 -- a full 13 years after the operating system was originally released.
In a letter sent to customers this week, Microsoft senior VP Bill Veghte said the software maker will provide security patches "and other critical updates" for Windows XP until April, 2014.
Without continued access XP, manufacturers of such systems would be forced to offer them with the rival Linux OS on board -- a situation Microsoft is hoping to preempt.
