Click on link in name for a lively discussion between a Win 8 hater and a apologetic. It's pretty disturbing how freetarded the Win 8 apologetic comes across."You don't need that""Mozilla did it too""Flash is proprietary crap"Given how Windows 8 looks and feels, and by fans it has.. oh boy.
Well that's sad: Windows 8 users are the new Freetards.I'm surprised at what a fuck up Windows 8 is after how good 7 was.Having said that, Freetards will be disappointed when their expectations of people switching to Ucuntu en-masse fail to happen. Freetards need to realise Windows 7 will still be around for a long time and still working with all their games for a long time after Windows 8 has been released.
I'm surprised at what a fuck up Windows 8 is after how good 7 was.Easy: Sinofsky is an overrated Steve Jobs wannabe. The groundwork of Windows 7 goodness was laid with Vista. Win 7 had the advantage of optimized drivers and software when it was released, due to the common baseline of Vista and 7.Take the new taskbar and the bugfixes from 7 away and what do you have?Just because Windows 7 had a safe landing when it was released, Sinofsky thinks he's the master of the universe now, the one who needs to "re-define computing" to a new level of suck.

Another epic Hairyfeet rant on /.Hater should get him guest ranting on here, pretty good stuff.I'm the Haters' Blog resident Marxist, and he's right about Communism (although that's not the only reason for its failure).
Just to remind everyone: there are people sadder than Freetards out there.Though I bet you could draw a Venn diagram of these two groups and there would be considerable overlap.
Check out the comments on that Warhammer article. Exhibit one:It's truly strange that being obsessed with watching 22 vastly overpaid, often not terribly bright men in funny clothes kicking a ball around a field for 90 minutes (not doing it yourself, mind) is considered to be normal and manly, whereas actually taking part in a creative, intelligent, thoughtful hobby is considered geeky and wet. Who are the sad acts here exactly? Exhibit two:Orks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksOrks,Orks,Orks,OrksWaaagh!lol.
My life for Aiur!
Santorum wins! Hooray!
I'm the Haters' Blog resident Marxist, and he's right about CommunismNo, he isn't. His reasoning is wrong, because most of the communist countries had no shortage of people for "lousy" jobs.Potato farmers got almost the same pay as doctors actually, so you got enough people to do it.Believe it or not, but one of the most desirable jobs was being a manager of grocery stores and the like, because there you had the most means to trick the system, - declaring false need for food and goods, and keeping it for yourself etc.Tricking the system was very common: A friend of my father got through med school in the Soviet Union because she knew people who were able to get large quantities of "exotic foods" and bribe her teachers that way.The SU was huge gambling casino for people who knew how to play it. Not much unlike the financial gambling in the US actually, the main difference was that the currency were physical goods instead of money. That mentality and "knowledge" was one of the reasons for the fast rise of the Russian mafia after the fall of the iron curtain.
Potato farmers got almost the same pay as doctors actuallyI get annoyed when Stallman gets labeled as a commie, because it misses the point completely. If he were a communist, he would advocate that ALL people should get paid equally, and that the rich should be stripped off of their wealth and put under equal pay. He doesn't do that.He _ONLY_ talks about how programmers should be getting paid less and that "high paying corporations should be banned". He doesn't care in the slightest about the living standards of programmers, unlike the communists with their "workers above all" mantra. Communist organizations wouldn't also receive generous checks from HP, Intel and IBM.If Stallie is a communist, he's the only communist in existance advocating that corporations should rip off their employees even more.So Stallman's isn't even a communist, he's just a hater.
@MARCH 14, 2012 2:14 AMFair enough.
You Winbred fucks better get ready for the Ubuntocalypse, today it's killing off RHEL, tomorrow it'll be Windows!
Stallman makes stuff up as he goes along. He wanted software to be free for whatever reason, and then went looking for a 'philosophy' that would justify it. What is so special about software that it must be free while everything else is not free? The question couldn't have failed to occur to the great Stallman. (He went after free documentation after a few years, but you can tell he was much less serious about it.)
What kind of revival at google is this? Yellow Badge workers I mean, google you are kidding? no?
What kind of revival at google is this? Yellow Badge workers I mean, google you are kidding? no?Welcome to Capitalism, if you don't like it you're welcome to move to North Korea.
Some guy leaves Google for MS, OSNews brigade is in shock.Damn, google fanbois are the most annoying fanbois.Windows 8 apologists come close second though.
The Google I was passionate about was a technology company that empowered its employees to innovate. The Google I left was an advertising company with a single corporate-mandated focus.Welcome to Capitalism, if you don't like it you're welcome to move to North Korea.
Note we're looking at a Microsoft employee. His points still carry some validity, though.Great job at poisoning the well there, courtesy of shitty Google $hill Thom Holwerda.
As regards the topic, some fixing of the patent system is required.Mpeg 4 avc is part of many standards (DTV, Video MMS and soon HTML5 video tag), so you can't just "forbid" open source projects from making a Mpeg 4 avc decoder or encoder. And you can't assume every operating system will have mpeg4 avc codecs (XP doesn't, for example, and people still use it). Even if the mpeg 4 avc patents are free for internet streaming till 2016, there is still the question what will happen later, and what will happen with the encoding side (and DTV and VideoMMS).IMO the holders of "standards essential" patents should stop charging a fixed cost per product and start getting a cut from the final sell price, mandated by law. This way, they would make a profit and allow freeware and open source software that encodes and decodes mpeg 4 avc to be legally distributed from the US.Anyway, fortunately not all countries uphold software patents. For example, France doesn't. This is how we can have x264, XBMC etc and freeware and open source mpeg 4 avc tools in general (Format Factory etc). Among a broken patent system that blocks freeware and open source, and not having software patents, the latter is better.PS: What will Mozilla do for XP users running Firefox? So, Firefox will play HTML5 mpeg 4 avc vids when installed in a Vista/7 system, and not when installed in an XP system? Oh crap, this is back to the age where you had to install obscure plugins/codecs to watch streaming video in your browser. IE8 also doesn't do HTML5, so you have to install plugins in IE8 too. Bring back Flash now!
James Whittaker is [...] a former Googler, former professor and former startup founder.James Whittaker is not just some guy.Larry Page himself assumed command to right this wrong. Social became state-owned, a corporate mandate called Google+. It was an ominous name invoking the feeling that Google alone wasn't enough. Search had to be social. Android had to be social. You Tube, once joyous in their independence, had to be … well, you get the point. Even worse was that innovation had to be social. Ideas that failed to put Google+ at the center of the universe were a distraction.Suddenly, 20% meant half-assed. Google Labs was shut down. App Engine fees were raised. APIs that had been free for years were deprecated or provided for a fee. As the trappings of entrepreneurship were dismantled, derisive talk of the "old Google" and its feeble attempts at competing with Facebook surfaced to justify a "new Google" that promised "more wood behind fewer arrows."
Has Mozilla fired Asa "Dumbass" Dotzler yet?
In freetarded terms, it would be similar to Eben Moglen going to work for Apple.
RIP Barbara WaltersWorld-famous journalist and television icon Barbara Walters was found dead in her Miami hotel room early Wednesday morning. She was 82 years old.
@MARCH 14, 2012 10:36 AMThanks for making me read the whole article, that was an insightful recent history of Google failure. That he was actually quite important to Google makes it doubly worse that Holwerda dismissed what he said. What a cunt.
Apache OpenOffice TImelineWhat took the longest time?Removal of Copyleft!Removal of Copyleft!Removal of Copyleft!Steve Ballmer was actually spot-on when he called Linux (and therefore GPL) a cancer. It infects everything and you need a disproportionately large amount of time to radically cut it out.
What will Mozilla do for XP users running Firefox? So, Firefox will play HTML5 mpeg 4 avc vids when installed in a Vista/7 system, and not when installed in an XP system?Mozilla will just drop XP support, it's the lazy thing to do.Oh crap, this is back to the age where you had to install obscure plugins/codecs to watch streaming video in your browser. IE8 also doesn't do HTML5, so you have to install plugins in IE8 too. Bring back Flash now! When did Flash die? The only platform with "Flash dying issues" is desktop Linux, and there it is not going away, it is just changing plugin API's from Netscape to Pepper.
I love the way the Apache-tards count creating a few shitty mailing lists as some major achievement that should be included in their timeline.
That cancer thing was the most hypocritical thing in loontard histoy.Compared to all the crazy crap freetards barfed out long before that remark, Ballmer's comment was pretty civil.
Stallman claims he has nothing against people making money selling GPL software (though he suggests that programmers live on less). Technically, you can sell GPL software, but you can't stop anyone that bought it from distributing it free to others. Prohibiting copying is a prerequisite for making money selling software. So, what Stallman considers 'unethical' is exactly the sort of thing that one needs to do to make money. The fat man didn't think things through.
The fat man didn't think things through. No, he did, because he is also quick at banning other ways to make money. He once trotted that programmers should make money through documentation, once enough devs did this, he tried to close this "loophole" too, started rambling about "free documentation".He's just pissed when developers (and only developers) make money.
>No, he did, because he is also quick at banning other ways to make money. It's nonsensical to say you can sell GPL software, but the fat man says you can. (Yeah you can - you can make one sale!)
It's nonsensical to say you can sell GPL software, but the fat man says you can. (Yeah you can - you can make one sale!)Uhm, that's the _whole_ point! The "scheme" so to say. I guess you haven't read the Penguin Day blog, there you can get the full rms experience.See link in name for the best Stallman articles there.
Remember kids, TehArabSpring™ needs your help. Only by tweeting and facebook sharing can we hope to overthrow our brutal dictator. Tweet and share!
Well that's sad: Windows 8 users are the new Freetards.Actually, it seems that as the market shifts to MacOS and iOS, the remaining MS loyalists are acting more and more like freetards. It's quite possible that what we know as "freetardism" is a state induced by desperation and fear of losing one's favorite environment. In the '80 and '90 it was old Unix neckbeards, in this decade it'll be Windows neckbeards.Sent from my Win7 PC, but you know how it is, buying a Mac is only a matter of time.
I took 15 cocks today and I'm not done yet! Tee hee! Thanks for your $ contribution, men of America!
omgomgomgomgomg! Wayland! It'll be in the repos in 12.04.
Keep tweeting kids! Each time you tweet the Assad regime grows that much weaker. Keep TehArabSpring™ alive!
Wayland is like your gas car, man. Like, they're not going away because of the, like, huge install base. Man, I need a chilito, whatever happened to chilitos, dude? Anyway, dude, whoa pretzels! Aww, Man! And like X11 is, like, aww shit, not going away... and we're like dude! They're all, duude... Like, you know?
Linux Hater the idiot at work again.h264 is only free license for playback for non paid for on-line services. MPEG-LA.Gets better you upload a h264 video to youtube you failed to read your cannon camera license that tag the video that is for non broadcast or redistribution. So now MPEG-LA is at your door asking for payment for that video you uploaded.Users will care about the h264 at some point. Also mozilla is blame shifting. Current h264 playback is only free for non paid for sites. So by passing it back to the OS to decode they did not decode it so putting them behind a legal shield.Really we do need MPEG-LA to clear up if browsers are in the firing line for commercial web usage of h264. Sane one would just have the commercial site in the firing line for not paying MPEG-LA not the browser that could be caught out.
Problem is h.264 cause stuttering audio IRQ conflict that leeds to sys32 dir empty on S3 hypernate. simple fact h.264 corruption caused by angle grinder to spinning drive platters which EXT4 not vulnrable two. EXT4 use real time molecular RTOS magnatic air signature to recover data into ground platter for h.264 playback. Open your eyes. MPEG-LA cant not survives salt water and arc welder.
Actually, it seems that as the market shifts to MacOS and iOS, the remaining MS loyalists are acting more and more like freetards. On th desktop? No.In the US Mac has 15% market share, and that's the highest. In Europe it's much weaker, around 6%, and in the other regions it lingers around 2-3.I doubt that figure will raise much, especially since Apple itself isn't that much interested in the OS X market anymore and stopped the Mac vs PC ads long ago.Furthermore, with the passing of the iconic Steve Jobs I doubt whether Apple can maintain the wow factor for much longer. Cook tried too much jobisms in his latest keynote.MS can only fail if they are fucking it up themselves colosally. Win 8 is terrible though, no doubt. But they could fix it up with Win 9 again.MS has one important advantage: non-iconic leadership. If Ballmer snorts too much speedballs with his hookers, the company will keep tucking with another baldie without much panic. Also, tablet and phones won't replace PCs, that's some Apple and Microsoft need to learn. Imagine running Visual Studio and Photoshop on a tablet with virtual keyboard. The horror.Could only work if you plugin a display, a mouse and a keyboard on that thing. But then you will end up once again on a desktop, which needs an desktop optimized gui once again.
Everything was pretty well in Microsoft Desktop Land until they came up with Windows 8.Sure, everyone knew MS would come up with a tablet OS, but most people thought it would be an modified Windows Phone 7 which would only run on tablets. No one expected these crazies would force the tablet GUI on the desktop, WTF.
Now playing: The sad tale of Mozilla, by Thom Holwerda of OSNews:And now, the rest of the technology industry, which owes so much to Mozilla, is going to force them to abandon their ideals. Heaven forbid we suffer a bit of inconvenience today for a better tomorrow. I find this tragically sad. We're seeing the technology industry ruined by Apple, Microsoft, and others using their unethical software patents to stifle competition, but you know what, let's inject another patent-encumbered, non-free technology into the web. What could possibly go wrong? I do, however, understand Mozilla's changing position. They simply have no choice. They want to remain relevant and be a part of the future web, and as such, they'll have to support this patent-encumbered non-free technology. They're debating it for mobile devices only right now, but with both Mac OS X and Windows turning into desktop versions of closed-off smartphone operating systems, they'll have to capitulate there, too.
When did Flash die? I was under the impression Windows 8's Metro interface won't allow Flash (and plugins in general), so this may cut many users off Flash. Or Microsoft changed mind and will allow Flash in Metro? I am not following the tech news much the last two months.
MS has one important advantage: non-iconic leadership.Excellent point.I wonder if it'll be less easy to sell the ipad3 now that Jobs is gone, considering the device is thicker, heavier and has a UI that looks like it's still year 2010. In fact it doesn't seem to offer anything new other than the retina display. Higher than HD resolution on a 10" device?! You have to be a serious cult follower to pay £400 for something like that.
The pre-orders are running hot though. There is something I admire about Apple: The fact that it can still maintain some sort of counterculture image, yet being an hypercapitalist, resources-exploiting megacorp. I don't mean that negatively, all other electronic makers aren't better. But all the other corps don't have images of John Lennon hanging in their stores.I get a pleasing fuzzy feeling knowing that the same people who buy "No Logo" books, organize against globalization and eat only organic food, shell out hundreds of dollars for iPads made in Foxconn.captcha: titsa
Yeah, they're basically running a McDonalds/Coke style operation, yet most people think Apple is managed by a bunch of cool hippies.
Could only work if you plugin a display, a mouse and a keyboard on that thing. But then you will end up once again on a desktop, which needs an desktop optimized gui once again.Like Ubuntu on Android. Just sayin'
yet most people think Apple is managed by a bunch of cool hippies. This can also be a weakness. If it becomes faschionable to bash Apple because of enviromentalism, the Chinese workers etc. (whose conditions aren't much different compared to those in other companies there), it can hurt Apple far more than other corporations.Part of the attraction and success is the hippie good-doer image. The Foxconn fuss is a good example: Lots of known companies produce at Foxconn, but only Apple gets bashed for it.The image is a big advantage, yet also a danger. Steve Jobs was able to salvage most of the bashing because of his personality and cult-status, Tim Cook propably can't pull that off.
Are Apple as genius at duping hipsters and liberal lefties as Starbucks are?
Can someone explain the Spotify hype to me?I've used something like this ten years ago (last.fm)
Sheeeeit, that picture actually pisses me right off. Apple are so protective of their own brand, going as far as to sue a school in BC for having an apple in their logo, but seeing nothing wrong with expropriating pictures of cultural icons for their own marketing.Of course those people are dead, so they can't complain; what despicable shits Apple are.On a side note, using John Lennon isn't so bad: he was a hypocrite for preaching love then cheating on his wife by shagging anything with a pulse; but Martin Luther King was an anti-Capitalist and had several Communists as his lieutenants, he wasn't stupid enough to be taken in by Apple's bullshit and I doubt he would have liked them using his image to sell their iTurds, made by proletariat labour in China. So, yeah, fuck Apple and the loonie-leftie liberal twats who buy their shit.
Workers of the world rejoice! Mark Shuttlecock turns out to be a Communist after all:And the project is called Ubuntu because it's about humanity in the mass, and the values which support that, rather than about individuals (who were empowered by Linux long before we came along).Interesting idea, that Linux before Ubuntu is essentially Libertarian, "Fuck you, I got Linux to do what I want using the command line, if you want to use it you'll have to do the same."
There is something I admire about Apple: The fact that it can still maintain some sort of counterculture image, yet being an hypercapitalist, resources-exploiting megacorp. I don't mean that negatively, all other electronic makers aren't better. But all the other corps don't have images of John Lennon hanging in their stores. Not defending Apple, but much of the "different" and "innovator" image that exits on people's heads about Apple is because of their ability to "revive" product categories. Aka, enter an industry where everyone is racing to the bottom and cutting corners from everything, and offer (what customers perceive as) a premium choice. Just look how computers were in the early Vista age. Microsoft was busy giving out "premium" certification stickers to PCs with 1GB ram and 5200RPM HDDs that took a minute or two to show the desktop, and not bundling any good userland tools like multimedia tools (DVD maker for Vista didn't even support Divx or MP4), and OEMs were too busy bundling crapware and reducing the battery capacity. Back then, you purchased a new PC and you said to yourself "What crap PC i bought again..." You were bombarded with antivirus warnings, the boot time and wake from sleep took ages and the first time you took the thing for a trip, you were to find out the battery lasted less than 2 hours of normal use. Race to the bottom, man. Then Apple comes with a really premium computer running an OS that doesn't get in yoyr way and ships with cool userland tools, and changes everything. If Apple hadn't come in, OEMs wouldn't have increased their batteries to 3 hours and Microsoft would have declared Vista a success. This reshaping of the PC industry made Apple admired.Similar thing with phones. Right before the iPhone came, Nokia had turned Symbian into a slow, confusing mess. For example, the N series phones shipped with 2 file managers: A fast one with no thumbnails (File Mngr) and an slow one with thumbnails (Gallery). Sony Ericson feature phones had bugs that could make the phone lock up into an endless boot-reboot cycle, unresolved for years, and MS had practically quit with Windows Mobile 6.5. Race to the bottom again. Then Apple came with a clean and fast phone and mobile OS etcBut i don't think anyomne believes Apple is the underdogs anymore. In the public's mind, Apple is more like BMW. Ruthless capitalistic corp with sweet products that set the bar.
So, yeah, fuck Apple and the loonie-leftie liberal twats who buy their shit.Sheeeeit, that picture actually pisses me right offYeah, but.. why fuck Apple? They are ripping those holier than thou gullibles off, kudos.Selling high tech toys from worker paradises in China for big bucks, and which get replaced every year, to people who get a heart attack if you throw a cola can out of the window of car is a high art which deserves respect.
What the heck are you talking about regarding Notebooks, Kurkos? They are still loaded with crap, the first sane thing you need to do is a clean install. Yes, lots of PCs sold in 2006/2007 were too slow for Vista, that changed in 2008 though, yet Apple had nothing to do with that. The rise to über-hype was due to the iPad, iPhone and iPod. Macs based on OS X were cool, but even in the Vista days the hype just wasn't that significant.
Is there a good reason why Windows 8 has TWO start buttons actually? The one in the lower left corner and in the right menu ("charms").
You whiners could always "switch" to Anonymous OS.
Microsoft is to drop support for Adobe Flash from the web browser that works with the Metro interface on Windows 8. The Metro user interface is most likely to be used on tablets as it displays applications and programs as easy to touch coloured tiles.Flash will still be supported in the Windows 8 desktop interface and the desktop version of IE.Flash isn't dying, it's just not going to be on tablets.
Martin Luther King was an anti-Capitalist and had several Communists as his lieutenantsMake one speech about having economic equality in the draft and suddenly you are a pinko and everyone around you are pinkos.Meh, you are as bad as Apple.
The virus thing with "Anonymous OS" got me laughing. Basically: It can't have backdoors, because it's based on Linux. Kudos, they have done their job and know what to say to get sympathies from script kiddies and freetards.I could make an Ubuntu based distro with a backdoor in it right now. Some little bugger that starts at boot up and phones home. There is no magical malware checking in Linux that would detect this. The software's creators say they put it together for "education purposes to checking the security of web pages (sic)".It asked people not to use it to destroy webpages.ROFLCOPTER.
The amateur constitutional lawyers of the Peanut Gallery respond to GeoHot's possession charge in Texas.
What's the fascination with Anonymous anyway? Most of them are lame script kiddies who run some graphical DOS tool ("LOIC"). 90% of their "attacks" just consist of DOSing or some very simple SQL injection stuff (propably with some years old automatic tool too)Ten years ago they would be laughed out loud by just about everyone.Strange times we live in.
everyone around you are pinkos.Meh, you are as bad as Apple. No, I think you'll find I was right: he was no lover of Capitalism and several of his lieutenants were Communists.Sorry you don't like facts and reality, but that's the way it is, for example: Stanley Levison was head of the Communist Party USA before joining the civil rights movement, Jack O'Dell was also a member of the Communist Party USA as was Bayard Rustin, Levison in particular was King's closest advisor. The only reason King distanced himself from Communism (and the Communists who supported him) was because of pressure from high ranking Liberals, like the president of the US.
"What's the fascination with Anonymous anyway?"People are so dissapointed by banks and their governments they are really desperate for a "victory" against them, even if it's some lame DoS attack. It's the tragedy of democracy. If you were you born in a country where people vote for the same two parties no matter what, you must suffer under their reign even if you never voted for those jerks.
It's really sad when "Anonymous" declares victory by DoSing the FBI site and the like.Who cares about the friggin' FBI site? How many times have you visited that? Once? It's not as if they go out of business just because their 90s looking static site is offline for two hours. I am not even sure most employees there know it exists.Pooping at the front entrance of some FBI office would make a more impressive protest.
Pooping at the front entrance of some FBI office would make a more impressive protest.I tried doing this, but there weren't any tools I could download to do it for me?
People are so dissapointed by banks and their governments they are really desperate for a "victory" against them, even if it's some lame DoS attackSo anonymous is the like fake resistance groups in dystopian books and films. Achieving meaningless "victories" to keep the people calm.
I tried doing this, but there weren't any tools I could download to do it for me?You need A.S.S 1.1
Damn, still stuck with 1.0
Ubuntu wins!AGAIN!Our great prophet Mark Shuttleworthhas spoken.
No, I think you'll find I was right: he was no lover of Capitalism and several of his lieutenants were Communists. No, I think you'll find that you've fallen victim to one of the various slurs used against MLK by the white trash that loves to hate him. The "lieutenants" you've listed gave up their membership in the CPUSA and had no further contact with them after joining the SCLC.Nowhere did he say "down with capital," he only wanted the system to treat everyone equally. All of this is in line with his Christian belief system and only resembles Communism because Jesus was a Marxist.
Kony is sure crying his eyes out in his child-raping bunker, knowing that the typical facebook and twitter user is onto him now.
Uh, politics.I get the feeling that the posts get ugly from now.
Yeah, because Linux isn't about politics... oh wait.
You remember Sarah Adelaida McIntire, Stallman's brainwashing victim of 2009.After going through the FSF ordeal, she's a completely lost cause now. See link in name:In the summer of 2009 Sarah Adelaida McIntire was a Residency Program Fellow (RPF). During her time as a RPF Adelaida served as the Free Software Foundation's first campaign intern. She spent a great deal of time editing the LibrePlanet wiki and fighting the evil forces of proprietary software one anti-DRM blog post at a time.... Adelaida studies [now] Gender/Feminism and STS at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusettes. She is interested in studying identity especially in relation to gender, sexuality and technology. That is, how gender/sexuality/technology influence identity formation and what identity means for people a given social context.Holy shit, what kind of job do you get with such an education?
Holy shit, what kind of job do you get with such an education?Sandra Fluke's handler.
No, I think you'll find that you've fallen victim to one of the various slurs used against MLK by the white trash that loves to hate him. Sounds like you're a liberal who's frightened some people they admire might *gasp* be leftists! The "lieutenants" you've listed gave up their membership in the CPUSA and had no further contact with them after joining the SCLCSure, people can stop being Communists just like that, it's so easy. Or maybe they were just being pragmatic and were put under pressure by the authorities and the president of the US. You don't need to be a member of CPUSA to be a Communist.Nowhere did he say "down with capital," he only wanted the system to treat everyone equally. That's why I said he was an anti-Capitalist. A system that treats everyone equally and Capitalism are mutually exclusive. Note: I didn't call MLK a Communist, I have no idea about that, but I do hold he was no friend of Capitalism. All of this is in line with his Christian belief system and only resembles Communism because Jesus was a Marxist.I'm not sure Jesus was a dialectical materialist, but if you're trying to say that Jesus was a communist, then there are plenty of people who would agree.
gender, sexuality and technology. That is, how gender/sexuality/technology influence identity formation and what identity means for people a given social context.Say that three times in a row.

Sounds like you're a liberal who's frightened some people they admire might *gasp* be leftists!Nope, but if you want to further the guilt by association meme, feel free.Sure, people can stop being Communists just like that, it's so easy.Seems to have worked out just fine for Russia.A system that treats everyone equally and Capitalism are mutually exclusive. The only thing stopping this society from treating everyone equally is the fact that people are backbiting assholes. It has nothing to do with money and the acquisition thereof.Note: I didn't call MLK a Communist, I have no idea about that, but I do hold he was no friend of Capitalism. And I disagree with you, good day sir.
The only thing stopping this society from treating everyone equally is the fact that people are backbiting assholes. Are you saying that you can't change the way people are by just following some political ideologues and thinking happy thoughts?Sheep.
Every family must now be concerned about the harm from pornography. As a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of pornography and its profound effects on our culture.
Get used to it, Rick Santorum will be President of the United States of America pretty soon.
America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography. A wealth of research is now available demonstrating that pornography causes profound brain changes in both children and adults, resulting in widespread negative consequences. Addiction to pornography is now common for adults and even for some children. The average age of first exposure to hard-core, Internet pornography is now 11. Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking.
Hmm, that's true, prostitution, sex trafficking, and violence against women exploded with the rise of internet pornography. It certainly wasn't worse in the days of the Roman Empire, for example. Santorum has got my vote.
Greetings fellow Patriots, Christians and Klansmen: By the Supreme Law of the Land, that is, by the United States Constitution, you are permitted to make and to own any weapon that your heart desires. But the traitors in Congress who are in league with the Jews, Communists, Leftist, and the Liberals, want you to believe that they have the right to infringe upon your Constitutional Rights and to restrict and to confiscate your guns. This booklet is designed so as to thwart their treacherous plans. Remember, “might makes right” is a falsehood. Join the Windows 8 metrosexual klan.Don't forget: It's the metroway or the highway!
What's the point of the Windows 8 blog ("building 8"?Every post generates hundreds of comments bashing Win 8, yet the team never adresses any criticisms expressed in those.I have to wonder why they even allow comments, since almost all of them are negative and the team never adresses the critics anyway.
The new iPad is here.Heavier, thicker, uglier. With no new software features.Mindlessly give us your money today.
I know it's .3" thicker and .1 lbs heavier!!! OMG!!!!!!! It's practically a brick!
Remember that KDE Spark tablet? Apparently before even shipping any of them the open sore turds have decided to rename it as the Vivaldi. lol wtf?
Remember that KDE Spark tablet? Apparently before even shipping any of them the open sore turds have decided to rename it as the Vivaldi. lol wtf? When they called it 'Spark' they were stealing someone else's trademark.Typical FOSSies: no respect for intellectual property.
>>Apollo 7 astronaut Walter Cunningham contributed a statement for my book that conveys deep concern about corruption of climate science in general, and within NASA in particular: He comments that "Those of us fortunate enough to have traveled in space bet our lives on the competence, dedication and integrity of science and technology professionals who made our missions possible...In the last twenty years, I have watched the high standards of science being violated by a few climate scientists, including some at NASA, while special interest opportunists have dangerously abused our public trust." <<Oh ho ho! The emperor is not having any clothes whatsoever!
Still lonely, Bob?
I thought I'll go and read something funny but OMG Ubuntu seems to be down. Is it possible Loonix server & desktop are the same kind of experience these days?
Yeah, Loonix on the server has always been overrated but then, what else did you expect from the 'tards?
Rapperdouche Freetard finally gives up on using Loonix for audio recording and posts angry rant on Reddit detailing the reasons why.Click LinkInName to see the ensuing butthurt comment thread.
10 must play Loonix games! They had so many games to choose from they had to include one made a few years ago (and lie about the release date--Savage 2) and another that hasn't even been made yet (cradle).Awesome work guys, clearly Linux is a pinnacle of the genre!
I know it's .3" thicker and .1 lbs heavier!!! OMG!!!!!!! It's practically a brick!"Thinner" and "lighter" has always been Apple's selling point to get fags and divorced women to buy their newest iteration of junk, no matter how slight the difference was. Now that they move a step backwards, it's no big deal, right faggot?
I know it's .3" thicker and .1 lbs heavier!!! OMG!!!!!!! It's practically a brick! In Apple terms, yes this is a brick. That homo who's running Apple now should be ashamed of himself.
Many complained about the difficulty in contacting Google for more information."They seem to think no direct contact is a good thing??? Crazy situation but that's how these big corps work and until it hurts their bottom line nothing will change," wrote one developer nicknamed UKAPPS on the Google page named Checkout Merchant forum. They only just realised this? It amazes me how some people can be so dumb.
Time to 'spread' your legs, homos.
They only just realised this? It amazes me how some people can be so dumb. Not everyone listened to the scuttlebutt surrounding AdSense.
Canonical -- The SpreadHuh? With Aero Peek I can preview every window at full size.Also:- Multiple windows per application are the exception rather than the rule.- For those cases thumbnail-size previews are perfectly sufficient in almost all cases.- In those cases does one even look at the thumbnails? If I have, for examples, lots of scientific papers open in my PDF reader, when I'm working on a paper, I do not switch windows by means of thumbnails, but rather by reading the document names.Canonical really excels in creating things that nobody needs.
Poor Lunduke!Apple cost him a fortune:One Developer’s Tale of Mac App Store SadnessThe real question is: who the fuck buys his stuff? Illumination Software Creator? Really!? You can get better visual programming tools for free.Buying Lunduke's software is like getting assraped at Pogson's house.
>>Dr. John Christy, professor of Atmospheric Science at the University of Alabama at Huntsville said: "I remember as a college student at the first Earth Day being told it was a certainty that by the year 2000, the world would be starving and out of energy. Such doomsday prophecies grabbed headlines, but have proven to be completely false." "Similar pronouncements today about catastrophes due to human-induced climate change," he continued, "sound all too familiar and all too exaggerated to me as someone who actually produces and analyzes climate information." The media, of course, like the exaggerated claims. Most are based on computer models that purport to predict future climates. But computer models are lousy at predicting climate because water vapor and cloud effects cause changes that computers fail to predict. In the mid-1970s, computer models told us we should prepare for global cooling. <<*snicker* Is there any wonder the global warming bums don't have any credibility?
FFS, Brian, get a real job!
A fawn-colored baby rabbit tipped for fame in Germany as he was born without ears was accidentally trampled and killed by a cameraman who had come to a zoo to film him, German media reported this week."I can't believe it. The rabbit was so sweet. It is a huge tragedy," zoo manager Uwe Dempewolf told Bild newspaper. The rabbit, due to be named "Til", had hopped behind the cameraman during filming in his small hay-strewn stall at the zoo in Limbach-Oberfrohna, and was crushed as the cameraman took a step backwards.

http://www.osnews.com/thread?510700Great conspiracy theory.
What the fuck did I just read?
omgubuntu is still down, were they hit by the global conspiracy or is Linux just shit?
http://www.facebook.com/omgubuntuServer update: Webfusion UK say that our root password doesn't work (although it was working last night) so we need to pay them £150/half hour to reset it. But... we'll also have to pay another £150/half hour inorder for them to "look at fixing" the network issue. Lame days, ahoy!
What will Mozilla do for XP users running Firefox? So, Firefox will play HTML5 mpeg 4 avc vids when installed in a Vista/7 system, and not when installed in an XP system?Mozilla will just drop XP support, it's the lazy thing to do.Yup. It's definitely lazy to drop support for an OS that isn't supported by Microsoft anymore. XP is over 10 years old and general support was dropped a few years ago. God forbid people move on.
omgubuntu is still down, were they hit by the global conspiracy or is Linux just shit?Joey Sneddon wanted to write something critical about Ubuntu. Either that or he didn't want to get DP'ed by Shuttleworth and Bacon.
Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, a true American Hero. God bless that man for his service.
Pulse Audio has been the best thing that's happened for Linux. Linux movement just needs to get down past the GFX core and it's all rockets to the moon.
As with all things flammable, napalm is extremely dangerous and it isn’t something that you should simply play with. If you’re a child, we recommend getting a responsible adult to help you mix this stuff together.

Co-founder for Invisible Children Jason Russell, 33, was allegedly found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to the SDPD. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road.
Typical libfag who latched onto a cause that had nothing to do with him.
Someone had to film that...
It's just not right.
Damned Irish pigs...
Microsoft is not releasing the XBox 720 because they are afraid of Linux and openness. As we all know, Microsoft is a dying company and Linux is the future. Linux will dominate the living room and video games because it is open, and open always wins. Is there a bug in a videogame? Not a problem because there are dozens, no hundreds of programmers who will pounce on that bug and fix it. Microsoft knows it has already lost the game to Linux. They are scared like little girly-men.
Yep, someone filmed it. Naked man in the street...
Not a problem because there are dozens, no hundreds of programmers who will pounce on that bug and fix it.True, and is the case with all open source software. I invite everyone here to try it out for yourselves: go to any OSS bug tracker for any piece of software and enter a bug. It will be answered by the lead developer within minutes, any time of the day or night. The dedication of FOSS developers to serve the needs of their users, even if it's just some kind words or even a reacharound, never ceases to amaze me.
Yep, someone filmed it. Naked man in the street...What's he doing, nude exhibitionistic aerobics? That's comedic gold. He's the next Star Wars kid, for the 21st century of course.
go to any OSS bug tracker for any piece of software and enter a bug. It will be answered by the lead developer within minutes, any time of the day or night.I do, and when I do I'm strokin' it. Is that wrong?
The dedication of FOSS developers to serve the needs of their users, even if it's just some kind words or even a reacharound, never ceases to amaze me.No doubt brotha.
I wonder what kind of drugs makes you walk out the door naked, stand on a corner, stick your ass to the wind, and the slap the shit out of the sidewalk with your hands, until they bleed.Or is he just stone-cold-fuck nuts?I'm curious.
Yep, someone filmed it. Naked man in the street...That's good. ... Hulk angry! Too bad Joss Whedon wasn't watching.
Poor Lunduke! It's a tax on his stupidity. Relying on making a living out of a shitty phone app store? I thought it was funny when Stallman told him to get a proper job too. I'm sure his wife is smarter though and has got a decent job herself, so when Lunduke goes bust due to another Apple glitch she can take the kid, dog, fish & goats and fuck off to find a less delusional bloke.PS: In my opinion Stallman "owned" them in that interview, not because I agree with Stallman's views, but because he just came across like a decent & respectful person while the interviewers were like a couple of whining butthurt schoolboys. Why invite someone to an interview if you already know you're not interested in what the guest has to say? Lame.
@MARCH 16, 2012 9:06 PMYes, their dedication to mark your bugs as WONTFIX and close them is truly amazing.
"works fine on the specific machine i used to develop this shitty piece of software. can't reproduce. CLOSED"
Oopsie, freetard Apple-bashing turns out to have been a bunch of lies. What a surprise.
Does that fix the working conditions that leads employees to kill themselves?
Does that fix the working conditions that leads employees to kill themselves?Dunno. Nobody knows. Because the reports about their working conditions were made up.(For that matter, strictly speaking it was never Apple employees committing suicide, it was Foxconn employees. I doubt that, say, the ones making motherboards for Dell are treated much better than the ones making iPads.)
Because the reports about their working conditions were made up.The "report" was about Foxconn employees.Daisey had claimed his account of conditions at Foxconn was based on a six-day visit to the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
I hope this passes, I want to relicense abandoned GPL projects to two-clause BSD:When a work has gone orphan, it means that it is effectively lost until the copyright monopoly expires, 70 years after the creator’s death. You can only hope that somebody has kept a copy illegally and copied it across new forms of storage media as they go in and out of fashion as the decades come and go, or it will be lost forever.(just for the lulz)
Dirty nigger shanks cabbie over cab fare.
It works! This is the default web page for this server. The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.
Glad to see OMG! Ubuntu! have made it much easier for their users to ascertain the site contains no content, before you had to load all sorts of Facebook and Google+ external scripts to find that out.
I need to hear more about George Clooney arrested. Where can I get more information about George Clooney arrested? I don't have enough information about George Clooney arrested.
MSGui may be hazardous to your health.
Linux rocks.Windows 8 is a fucking failure.
Yay. 5000 posts reached. Blogger sucks donkey cock.
nice to see you, Queef.
If I had seen this first, I wouldn't have bothered posting my response.
Also, George Clooney
Of course M$ wants to phase out XP. They want you to upgrade and donate another $100.00+ to their coffers.
I really appreciate all the work that the Linux community does, and have become a believer that it's maturing into a viable OS alternative for mainstream users.
In theory, you could have a 15+ year-old install of Debian which was completely up to date with current software, latest kernel - yet had never been reinstalled once. I had one which lasted about eight or nine years, I think. The disk has migrated between a few motherboards in that time, but it kept on kicking. It's still going as a friend's home server, iirc. It's just one of those Linux/GNU things that works very differently from the Windows world.
I agree Ubuntu is a better OS for slow machines, and as a back door on new machines that have a problem of some sort. Honestly. I can't see any one actually wanting to use the Mac operating system.
I switched to Ubuntu 6 months ago when my Mac Mini went tits up and a freind gave me an Old Dell Demension 3100 mini tower to use. A P4@3.06 w/2gig of ram. One thing I am curious about is why the 4gig of ram? I ask because one thing I find rather amazing about using Linux is how little ram everything uses. On Linux, try as I might, I have yet to push ram usage over about 750mb, less than half my installed ram. I wouldnt add ram if I could. Always in these thread about Linux I see these comments from posters who seem angered by the very existance of Linux. I wonder why.
Until it can play high def tear free porn it's not mainstream.I played some porn on I/Recommend/GNU/Debian/Linux/KthxBai and when the camera came in for a closeup Mandingo's cock tore a hole RIGHT in the screen of my Durdenpad notebook. This doesn't happen with ThatOtherOS/7 on non dumpster-dive notebooks.Nay, Mandingo can be seen in his glory doing ass to mouth on Pogson's wife
Linux, so easy even a Mac user can figure it out
Smells like Troll to me. As soon as anyone starts using management buzzwords, I instantly realise I'm dealing with an idiot. If you find installing programs too difficult, stick to giving power point presentations.
It's these kinds of stories that remind me why I'm still a part of Ars Technica. To be honest I haven't bought a computer in over ten years, I just collect the "junk" that most people discard. As system requirements continue to increase for even simple tasks I've had to pare down what I take, but just about anything with a P4 equivalent is still quite usable.
I will frequently give away computers to friends with Ubuntu installed, even upgrading a 65 year old user's Athlon XP 1800 from XP to Mint 12 with nothing but praise for how well his computer works now.
My daily driver is a 2005ish AMD Opteron that a friend handed off to me. Threw Ubuntu on there and bam, it gets the job done without a glitch. It could even handle some of the older games like Doom 3 and Quake 4 at full 3D coolies (but props to the video card for that). When it's time to do some programming or video re-encoding where a little more muscle is needed, I have a new Core i7 for that.
I suspect you haven't tried a Linux for a while. What you say was certainly true fifteen years ago, but it's not now and hasn't been for quite a while.
12 inchers are great for casual use.
That magic. You see it in the movies.
I am going to try this. Thanks!
I wanted to retire
Thanks for these suggestions.
I may try Hackintosh again
Sounds like your first step should be to replace the video card
I wanted to retire from what I was doing, you know. From that, that line of work.
I never argued that Linux should replace Windows and/or Mac on all hardware.
My wife still has her 5 yr. old and it still works wonders. I don't see it wanting for performance for several more years. in about 10 seconds and has a fully working. I dread the thought of replacing it. have become unobtainium. in the next couple of years will make the problem go away...
I did the same thing with my sister. it came with Windows Vista, so I formatted it. she wouldn't know the difference. It's nice.
Trawling for something?
The problem there is trying to put idle components to hit and miss. Some will sleep fine. others will just ignore them. And the only way to really get around it is to poke and prod. Got to "love" the lax adherence.
